Hi! I'm Lisa Hering and this is my "Work In Progress" Workshop Page.
ART JOURNALING: These days I seem to be into "Art Journaling", which is an art form that combines journaling for the soul and art to enhance the experience. In my journal pages, I use all types of paints and other media for color and texture. I use pen and ink to write words, sometimes in a calligraphic style for emphasis. Any remnants I can find that lend an unusual texture or different dimension to the tone of the page is welcome. Art journaling is my quiet time to refresh my inner being and prepare myself for decisions. I highly recommend it as a form of relaxation and creative development.
CREATIVE WRITING: I also explore my inner strength by exercising my mind with Creative Writing. Here, I let my mind be the leader, and my hand follows along with a developing story. I generally try and incorporate a story with a moral and an educational feature. Thus, I accomplish two things for my growth.
YARN: I also do other forms of creative art. I do things like spin my own yarn, dye my own yarn, knit and crochet and weave, and various forms of fiber art. Yarn types that I use are silk, alpaca, cashmere, cotton, linen, kid mohair, angora, merino wool, and novelty yarns such as eyelash, metallics, velour. And certainly hand dyed and hand painted.
BEADS: I also use beads as an art from in jewelry and in wall hangings. Bead types that I use are Swarovski Austrian fine leaded crystal, Italian glass (Venetian and Murano), beads from old Czechoslovakian sources, Nepal and Tibet. I also use Grade A pure Sleeping Beauty Turquoise from the mine in Globe, AZ and White Buffalo Turquoise from Arizona, dark blue lapis, and hundreds of other naturally occurring minerals, oral, pearls, wood, seed, bone, horn, even ostrich egg shell. I have a large selection of Tools and silver and gold filled wire, pendants, cabochons, clasps, silk and cable wire for stringing, and hundreds of findings for finishing jewelry.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND PHOTOGRAPHICS: I continue to pursue photography and edit them in Photoshop to make unusual effects and enhance idiosyncrasies.
CLASSES: Art Journaling, Creative Writing, Photography, Photoshop CS2, Bead or Knit classes can be privately scheduled for groups. I provide materials for all classes.
ALPACA CONNECTION: I used to have a small herd of about 30 alpacas in Cottonwood at the old Oasis Ranch on 89A. I have sold them, however retain yarn made from their fiber for my art projects. I also have connections to the new owner who keeps them in Page Springs and continues to sell their yarn and raw fiber. Please contact me if you would like further information.
